Man'o'War (Horsegears opinion only)

Forequarters: Long forelimbs, mainly through the forearm, leaving a slightly shorter cannon in proportion. The arm shoots up at a nice angle towards a significantly closed shoulder joint. The blade is of just an even length. The majority of racehorses with a closed shoulder, joint also possess a slightly flatter arm, but as Man'o'Wars closed shoulder joint also leads off from a nicely angled arm, it ensures the shoulder blade has good slope, leaving its wither well set back. This goes some way, along with the shallow girth, to explaining the horses higher head carriage. Despite having only an even blade length, the additional fore traits above provide ample scope for stride extension.

Core: The girth depth is quite shallow, however it also only has to support an equally shortened back, so strength and proportion wise this is not problem. The overall barrel volume is very small, possibly not leaving ample room for lung expansion during a full gallop. On the positive side, the shallow girth does provide a freer and looser action, while the shorter back encourages under reach from the hind, which collate to promising stride length,

Hindquarters: A longer and stronger croup providing superior short term power. Nice proportions through the lower hind.

Distance gearing: (Puff factor) 1300 - 1800m (8 f)

Overview: Some unusual conformation traits, that collate and match well as a unit. Stride length from the fore and mid sections, while the hind provides strength and power.

***Man'o'Wars unique Levering: The leaner mid section, and very leggy appearance encourage stride length and free movement, but still enables the horse plenty of room for stronger upper prime movers either end, from the humerus, scapula, pelvis and femur bones, Effectively this provides Man'o'War ample proportions of both strength and speed, while also maintaining a longer stride, aiding endurance. This conformation set potentially yields optimal versatility and all-round athletic ability, while also significantly maintaining a ideal length/height ratio.

Very kind to the eye.
